Textured Pencil Skirt Office Outfits

Two office outfits with textured pencil skirts and some fun prints. I feel with the mostly neutral colour schemes these are a bit plain and they aren't my favourite outfits, but they did work for recent office days.

What I wore:

EarringsMimco silver stud earrings
Tank: Target ruffle sleeve dog print blouse
Skirt: Target textured silver pencil skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus purple Salvatore Ferragamo 'Vara' leather bow bracelet
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

I decided that with the fun dachshund print on this blouse that a necklace would be too much, but looking at the photos this felt a bit plain. Even with the big purple Balenciaga work bag!

This blouse is one I haven't worn in quite a while, and I decided to give it a final wear to see if it would be a keeper in my wardrobe. Definitely not a keeper, but my colleague mentioned she really liked it and wanted to use the pattern (she makes her own clothes) so I'm going to pass it on to her.

I think the purple bracelet and purple Balenciaga work bag didn't add enough to this outfit, maybe I should have added some more statement making earrings with this to make up for not adding a necklace. Not something I'll be wearing again as I'm passing the top onto my colleague now.

Last worn: Mimco silver studs, dachshund print blouse, grey textured pencil skirt, purple Ferragamo bow bracelet, Converse, Balenciaga purple work bag.

Other ways to weardachshund print blouse and jeans, grey textured pencil skirt and blouse, Converse and maxi skirt, Balenciaga purple work bag and printed dress.

Perfect for pregnancy: Converse in second trimester.

What I wore:

Necklace: thrifted Mix Apparel clover designer inspired necklace
Top: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
SkirtCotton On 'Mica' mesh spot skirt in dusty pink
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
Bracelets: the usual
Bagthrifted Rebecca Minkoff vintage Cupid satchel in dark navy blue

Why I wore it:

Wasn't such a fan of this outfit either! It feels a bit plain. Even with the fun textured polka dot pencil skirt, I think this outfit was also lacking some colour. I did add a necklace to this one, but with the grey tunic top I think a bright and colourful necklace would have been better than this black and silver one.

It was good to wear my Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag again too, an opshop find from last year. I love it. I just think, like in the outfit above, that this was missing something and it's not a combination of pieces I would wear again. An okay outfit for the office, but not something I enjoyed as much. I can tell I was in a rush in the morning putting this together!

Last worn: grey tunic top, clover necklace, polka dot pencil skirt, silver ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag.

Other ways to weargrey tunic top and shorts, polka dot pencil skirt in winter, silver ballet flats and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag with stripes.

Perfect for pregnancypink polka dot pencil skirt in first trimester,, silver ballet flats in third trimester.

Black Denim Skirts and Tee Outfits With Purple Chloe Paraty Bag

Two very simple neutral denim skirts and tee outfits, both with black and white printed cover ups and the same purple Chloe Paraty bag and necklace.

What I wore:

JacketSeed Heritage black printed poncho
Necklace: Colette marble and gold pendant drop long necklace
Tee: grey marle pocket tee
SkirtNobody Denim Piper vacation skirt in black distressed denim
Shoes: Kmart tan crossover slides
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe small Paraty bag in wine purple

Why I wore it:

I got this amazing printed cover up from mum for Christmas. Being black and white it will go with everything. Although this is the second time I've worn it, it's the second time I've paired it with neutrals! I even wore it with this tee last time I wore it too. It is a good layer to add a little more interest to the plain grey pocket tee and distressed denim skirt outfit. Even the the tan slides though it was a lot of dark neutrals, so I added the purple marble and gold necklace to brighten it up a little, and then my deep purple small Chloe Paraty bag. I really like the extra but not overwhelming colour this bag adds to a neutral outfit.

Ideal outfit for a playdate and a couple of errands on the weekend.

Last wornprinted capes, grey pocket tee, gold and marble necklace, Nobody Denim distressed skirt, tan slides, Chloe small Paraty bag.

Other ways to wearprinted cape ad shorts, grey pocket tee, Nobody Denim distressed skirt and sequins, tan slides and dress, Chloe small Paraty bag and pencil skirt.

What I wore:

JacketThe Kindness Collective 'Vienna Awaits' floral print kimono
Necklace: Colette marble and gold pendant drop long necklace
Tee: thrifted Mix Apparel black marle tee
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagChloe small Paraty bag in wine purple

Why I wore it:

A busy day and being temporarily without a car meant comfortable sneakers for some actual running around. As well as the school drop off, we had an appointment for my son that morning. And then it was racing back home to work from home for a few hours before heading back to school to pick up the kids.

It was another hot and humid Brisbane summer day so while a black tee and black denim skirt weren't the best colour choice, I thought the white cover up would help reflect some of the heat and keep me cool. And I liked the pattern mix of the space dye tee against the floral Paisley print on the cover up. Wasn't sure at first if it would be too busy, but I think sticking with black and white in both prints worked.

Again I went with the purple Chloe Paraty bag for a little bit of colour. And happened to pick the same necklace again! I really do like this bag and necklace worn together.

Last worn: floral print cover up, space dye tee, marble necklace (above), black denim skirt, New Balance sneakers, Chloe purple small Paraty bag (above).

Other ways to wearfloral print cover up over a dress, space dye tee and blazer, black denim skirt and leopard print, Chloe purple small Paraty bag and jeans.

Denim Skirts, Converse and Blazers With Blue 5-Zip Bag

Taking advantage of two quiet days in the office on each side of a long weekend to wear some denim skirts. These outfits would have been good causal Friday outfits back in the day, but every day in the office is even more casual than casual Friday now!

I did dress these simple tank and denim skirts outfits a little with blazers to look a little more professional, but there weren't a lot of people in the office before or after the long weekend that I had to worry about looking professional for.

What I wore:

Jacket: thrifted Valleygirl navy jersey blazer
Top: Target embroidered khaki tank
Skirt: Target classic denim skirt in white
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual
Bagvintage original Rebecca Minkoff 5-zip in faded electric blue

Why I wore it:

I've worn this olive embroidered tank with white in the past, it's such a nice combination of neutrals. I added the white Converse too for a little matchy-matchy, and then the navy blazer as I like navy and olive together. The blue Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag seemed an obvious addition once I picked out the navy blazer. It was far too hot to wear the blazer for the commute, but with just a denim skirt and a tank in the office aircon, I appreciated the blazer very much when I was sitting at my desk!

Didn't wear a necklace with this as the tassels and the embroidered neckline on the tank added enough detail I felt. I did consider wearing some statement earrings too, but I was in a rush that morning and hadn't picked a pair to wear so skipped adding them.

Last worn: navy blazer, olive embroidered tank, white denim skirt, white Converse, Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag.

Other ways to wearnavy blazer and pencil skirt, olive embroidered tank and maxi skirt, white denim skirt with pink, white Converse and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag and leopard print.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester

What I wore:

Jacketthrifted Zara black blazer
Earrings: blue and yellow daisy resin earrings
Necklace: adjustable coral flat bead necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Elissa leaf print tank
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bagvintage original Rebecca Minkoff 5-zip in faded electric blue

Why I wore it:

Another simple tank and denim skirt outfit. This time I went matchy-matchy with the black denim skirt, black Converse, and a black blazer to balance out the mix of colours in the print of the tank. With the navy fern print, again the Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag was a good choice, with the shades of blue not exactly matching, but close enough that I liked the tank and bag together.

The coral necklace was a different shade from the red in the print, as is the bright blue daisy earrings, but with all the black I felt the outfit needed a little extra brightness.

It was another day I shed the blazer as soon as I took these blog photos - such a humid summer day! It was nice to spend the day in the aircon at the office, blazer firmly back on.

Last worn: black blazer, daisy earrings, coral necklace, fern print tank, black denim skirt, black Converse, Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag (above).

Other ways to wearblack blazer and jeans, fern print tank worn two ways, black denim skirt and leopard print, black Converse and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag and shorts.

Perfect for pregnancy: black blazer in third trimester, Converse in second trimester.

Leopard Print and Blue with Black Denim

Continuing on with wearing more of my new pieces I got for Christmas. My mum, sister and I always have an annual pre-Christmas shopping trip to do our gift shopping, and often pick up things for each other. This year we spent a morning at the opshops too and mum got me these cute leopard print pieces. Wore them with lots of blue and some black denim.

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest Kensley summer tie-dye kimono
Necklace: thrifted blue statement beaded necklace
Cami: Kmart Anko leopard print cami (Christmas present)
Shorts: Jeanswest Heather Bermuda short in black
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
Bagvintage original Rebecca Minkoff 5-zip in faded electric blue (Christmas present)

Why I wore it:

Like most of the school holidays, this was a difficult day to dress for! We are having a particularly wet summer so I never know if it's going to be a cool and rainy day, or a hot and humid threatening rain but never raining day.

With this cute leopard print spaghetti strap cami I knew I needed some shoulder coverage though so chose this lovely navy tie dye cape to keep my shoulders covered from the sun as we ran a couple of errands. I wasn't sure if the tie dye and the leopard print would look good together so I wore a couple of other blue accessories to tie it all in. And kept the shorts neutral with these black denim shorts. I really liked this outfit and I'm glad I gave the tie dye and leopard a try!

Last worn: tie dye cape, navy necklace, black denim shorts, Havaianas. First time I've worn the leopard print cami and the Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag as they are Christmas presents.

Other ways to weartie dye cape and pink shorts, black denim shorts and florals.

What I wore:

Jacket: Kmart orange leopard print cover up (Christmas present)
Tee: teal Strange Planet 'wildly unprepared for the day' graphic tee (Christmas present)
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
ShoesAdidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: vintage original Rebecca Minkoff 5-zip in faded electric blue (Christmas present)

Why I wore it:

This was another leopard and blue combination, with this cute orange leopard print cover up and my teal graphic tee. I've been a fan of Nathan Pyle's comics for a while, most of my Threadless tees I wore in my uni days were his designs. And the kids love the Strange Planet series he did, so we all ended up with a Strange Planet tee for Christmas! Mine says 'wildly unprepared for the day' which seems pretty accurate for me!

Wore it with my thrifted black denim skirt and Adidas Superstar sneakers. Added more blue to the teal with this Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag, which is great for fitting a book as well as my other essentials. The cover up was a last minute addition and I wasn't sure it worked, but like the outfit above, I wanted to give it a try. And I needed an extra layer over the tee and denim outfit as I took the kids to an airconditioned indoor play area for the morning.

Last worn: black denim skirt, Adidas Superstar sneakers. First time I've worn the leopard print cover up and the teal graphic tee as they are Christmas presents.

Navy Tops, Orange Skirts and Red Bag Outfits

Two different orange skirt outfits, both featuring a little red bag and a navy tank.

What I wore:

Necklace: thrifted gold and pastel blue beaded necklace with grey string
Tank: Kmart navy ribbed tank
Skirt: thrifted Kmart rust button up linen blend skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red

Why I wore it:

Wore this for the first official day of my summer leave. Celebrated by taking the kids along to a cookie decorating class - they had a bunch of fun, and I had a good time chatting to my friend as our kids enjoyed their cookie playdate! Also ran a few errands picking up a couple last minute gifts, as this was back earlier in December.

I really like navy and orange together, so was eager to try this navy tank with the rust button up skirt. I really liked the combination! The Converse were a practical choice for a bit of driving around, and I thought the little red bag would be a fun pop against the rust skirt. I have been wearing this bag a lot lately! I really liked this outfit.

Last worn: navy tank, statement necklace, rust skirt, white Converse, Rebecca Minkoff studded saddle bag.

My Red Handbag Collection:

What I wore:

Necklace: Oxfam Noah's Ark green red beaded necklace
TankCle The Label Amelia tank in indigo
Skirtthrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
ShoesRebecca Minkoff Georgina studded gladiator sandals in blush
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff red micro Avery cross body bag

Why I wore it:

This outfit is very similar to the one above, but I didn't love it quite as much. Still a fun combination of that navy, orange and red trio though.

Again it was a simple navy tank with an orange skirt, this lovely thrifted maxi skirt that is super light for hot days, which this day certainly was! I had the little red bag from the night before, when we had gone out to White Christmas event at MovieWorld, as we stayed overnight at my parents on the coast instead of driving back home. I thought it would be fun with the little red bag and orange skirt, and since we had been at a Christmas event the night before, a little red and green necklace for a festive touch. The neutral studded sandals were what I'd worn the night before too, to keep packing light.

We unfortunately had to leave early in the morning, having to get back home for a playdate, so we didn't stay at my parents long.

Last worn: navy tank, red and green bib necklace, orange maxi skirt, studded sandals, red micro Avery bag.

Red and Green Midi Skirt and Tee Outfits For The Office

Wore both of these outfits back in December before finishing up work for the Christmas holidays. Both are simple tee and midi skirt outfits, with a bit of red and green for some December festivity.

What I wore:

Earrings: Piper gold heart earrings
NecklaceStarfish Project Hannah turquoise bead necklace
Tee: Jeanswest Emily cotton v-neck tee in coral
Skirt: thrifted ruffle hem leopard print midi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus wooden beaded bracelet stack
BagRebecca Minkoff emerald green mini 5-zip rocker bag

Why I wore it:

Red and leopard together is always a winner! I liked this coral tee with the green accessories too, with both the beaded necklace and the little green Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag, it was perfectly festive for Christmas without feeling like too much. It was pretty quiet in the office, with lots of leave starting already, so this was nice and comfortable for a day at my desk. This midi skirt has become a frequent go-to for me for work after I thrifted it back in October. Pre-pandemic I would have thought it a little too casual for the office, but my already business casual office culture has become even more relaxed since we started popping back into the office again.

Did think of trying to dress this up a little with ballet flats rather than Converse, but again went for comfort with the Converse.

Last worn: earringscoral tee, green necklace, leopard print midi skirt, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag.

Other ways to wearcoral tee and maxi skirt, leopard print midi skirt and metallic tank, Converse and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag with orange skirt.

What I wore:

Necklace: Red multi strand beaded statement necklace
Tee: thrifted Kmart short sleeve cotton modal tee in black
Skirt: Kmart breeze green broderie anglaise midi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red

Why I wore it:

This was my last day in the office and last day at work for the year before starting my summer break so I just had to wear this pretty broderie anglaise midi skirt. Mum got it for me for Christmas on our annual pre-Christmas shopping trip but I wanted to start wearing it early - I knew it would be great for this last day at work for the year, and I wore it to the White Christmas night at Movieworld too. I'm excited to wear this outside of December and make it work year-round, but for this outfit I leaned into it and added some red accessories to make it more festive.

While the little red studded saddle bag and the red multi strand statement necklace and red bracelet stack are different shades of red, I think they worked well together and of course the black tee goes with everything. I did add a little extra matchy-matchy by wearing my black converse with this too.

To make things even more festive, I walked around the office in a Santa hat as well!

Last worn: black tee, red statement necklace, Converse (above), red studded saddle bag. First time I've shared the skirt on the blog as it's as recent gift.

Other ways to wearblack tee and shorts, Converse and pencil skirtRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag worn 30 ways.

Printed Skirts With Converse, Falabella And Black Tees For The Office | Weekday Wear Link Up

Sharing another set of two very similar outfits for the office for today's Weekday Wear Link Up. Both feature black tees, printed skirts, Converse, and my newly thrifted Stella McCartney Falabella bag.

What I wore:

Necklace: thrifted gold and cream multi strand pearl necklace
Tee: thrifted Kmart short sleeve cotton modal tee in black
Skirt: thrifted ruffle hem leopard print midi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bagthrifted Stella McCartney Falabella fold-over tote in midnight black

Why I wore it:

So many new purchases in one outfit! While I focus on pieces that work with other items in my wardrobe when I'm shopping, it's always a thril when I thrift pieces that work together to create a full outfit all on their own! This leopard printmidi skirt was a must as soon as I saw it on the rack - I love the tassels and it's such a great length for me, almost a maxi. As it was a quiet day at my desk it was easily dressed down with the black tee and my Converse sneakers. The Stella McCartney Falabella worked so well in this outfit too, it's a great bag for work!

The necklace is not new but instead a reincarnation of an older one I had. When I thrifted it, it was a beautiful string of faux pearl beads all knotted together on faux suede and the thread just kept splitting and breaking until eventually I couldn't repair it any more. My friend designs and makes jewellery so she helped me get some supplies (just a simple cord this time) to recreate it with the beads I had, and I just copied it as closely as I could to the original necklace. I think I did well even if it's taken me months to getting around to remaking this!

Last worn: black teebeaded necklaceConverse, Stella McCartney Falabella bag. First time I've worn the leopard print skirt as is is a recent thrift find.

Other ways to wear: black tee and shortsConverse and jeans, Stella McCartney Falabella bag with green.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester..

What I wore:

Necklace: thrifted wooden yellow tassel necklace
Tee: thrifted black scoop neck H&M tee
Skirt: Garfunkle Australia pleated print skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bagthrifted Stella McCartney Falabella fold-over tote in midnight black

Why I wore it:

This outfit was disappointing. I copied the outfit formula for the one above almost exactly, with a different black thrifted tee, the Converse and the Stella McCartney Falabella bag again. I even added another statement necklace, this cheerful yellow tassel one. This yellow and white and black printed pleated skirt used to be an office staple for me, but I just really wasn't enjoying it on this day. It was a bit breezy and the a-line shape kept getting caught in the breeze in the worst ways and had me worrying about and holding the hem quite a bit. It's a shame as I really loved this skirt in the past, but it is in the donate bag now. Even though I haven't hit 30 wears with it I'm just really not enjoying wearing it any more, and it's better to go to a new home with someone who will love it.

Last worn: black H&M tee, yellow tassel necklacepleated printed skirt, Converse (above), Stella McCartney Falabella bag (above).

Magnificent 8 - Simply Red

I had the hardest time coming up with outfits to share for this quarter's Magnificent 8. I was just overwhelmed with choice! We decided to feature red as it's a great power colour, but I have so much red in my wardrobe. Even though I've been wearing a lot of pink lately, I have no shortage of red things to wear. In the end I went with the most red thing I own, a dress, and then a second outfit with just a couple pops of red from accessories.

What I wore:

Earrings: neutral clay disc earrings
Necklace: thrifted wooden yellow tassel necklace
Dress: Kmart Whsdch Red short sleeved tiered midi dress
ShoesRebecca Minkoff Georgina studded gladiator sandals in blush
Bracelets: the usual
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur Neverfull

Why I wore it:

This was a really fun day, but so hot! We headed out to try out a new park and have lunch with my family and my aunt who was visiting the coast recently. The new park was wonderful, so many different play spaces and things for the kids to enjoy! It was really good spending time with the family too, even if the park was so popular we had to wait a little to use the BBQ and cook lunch.

Knew this Kmart tiered dress would be perfect for the heat - it's nice and light for hot days, and there was a lovely breeze to keep us cool. I did wonder if this dress quite made the theme for the Magnificent 8 prompt, as it's more coral than a true red, but I decided it was close enough!

The sandals were a must have with the warm weather, and the Louis Vuitton Neverfull is always a practical choice to load up with water bottles for a BBQ in the park.

What I wore:

ScarfAlexander McQueen red skull-print modal and cashmere-blend scarf
TankCotton On 'eternity' tank in charcoal marle
Skirt: Target animal print ruffle hem mini skirt
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus wooden beaded bracelet stack and red gem bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red

Why I wore it:

This was a much more neutral outfit than the one above, before I added all the red accessories to it. If wearing a lot of a power colour seems like too much, there is always accessories to let you add a touch of it to your outfit!

This grey tank and cute ruffle hem leopard print skirt were a great neutral base to my outfit, especially with the studded sandals. I knew the red saddle bag would be great against them, and it's roomier than it looks! I had all the essentials plus a book in there as while I was working from home, I had an appointment to attend before picking the kids up from school.

Echoed the reds and browns with the bracelet stack, but still felt this outfit was missing a little something, so added the red Alexander McQueen skull print scarf. I like print mixing with these skull scarves, even if I only wore the scarf for the school drop off in the morning, as the weather warmed up so quickly it wasn't needed later in the afternoon.
