Spring Dresses: Daytime and Evening Outfits

I've really been enjoying wearing dresses this Spring! I recently wore two dresses, for day and night looks. One I'm adding to the donate pile, and one that's definitely staying in my wardrobe!

Here's what I wore to take baby T for his vaccinations:
Spring Daytime Outfit Skater Dress LBD Converse Chucks Skull scarf
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
ScarfAlexander McQueen magenta skull scarf in roses print
Dress: Glassons black cotton skater dress
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

This is only the fourth time I've worn this dress since I bought it over a year ago. I've been wanting to wear it for a while recently, but as I often do, when getting dressed I've passed up wearing a nice basic dress for something more interesting. It took me a while to get around to actually wearing it, and I wasn't really very comfortable wearing it, so it's time for it to leave my wardrobe.

This was an okay outfit for baby-wearing in theory, and the dress, skull scarf and Chucks combination is one I've worn a lot recently, but I just didn't really like the dress this time around. Looks perfectly okay in the photo, but I didn't feel that great in it.

Last worn: Ray-Ban wayfarer, Alexander McQueen skull scarf, Glassons skater dress, Converse.

Here's what I wore to go out into the city with my sister for the evening:
Coach Madison Sophia bag, Atmos&Here Willow Tee Dress Black Blazer
Jacket: thrifted Zara black blazer
Necklacevintage gold initial necklace
DressAtmos & Here Willow printed tee dress
ShoesAcne pistol boots in "skin"
Bracelets: the usual plus Disney Couture Winnie the Pooh bangle
Bag: Coach Madison Sophia satchel in black (borrowed!)

Wore this outfit for an evening out with my sister. We went out for dinner, some delicious gelato, and stopped by the Coach Fall 2014 event at Brisbane Wintergarden. I even had a cheeky glass of champagne!

As we were heading out to a Coach event I wasn't sure if I should be wearing something from Coach.....not sure what the rules are, I don't really get invited to many brand events! Luckily my sister has a couple of Coach bags so I took the chance to borrow hers for the evening. Was a really nice bag to carry actually. My sister has taken it around the world (literally!) and it still looks really good. Sadly, we didn't see anything in the new collection we wanted to buy, but it was fun to have a browse. The little paper bag I'm carrying behind the purse was just a gift bag.

Once again I wore this printed dress with ankle boots. I'm repeating it a lot lately, it's just such an easy piece to wear. Pretty much wearing it as soon as it's washed and ironed from the last time!

Last worn: Zara blazer, Atmos&Here tee dress, Acne Pistol boots. First time I've used the bag as it was borrowed from my sister.

Jersey Maxi Skirts, Tank Tops, Kimono and Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB

Ended up wearing maxi skirts two days in a row! Not surprising considering I loved them so much in pregnancy I keep reaching for them instead of jeans post-baby.

Here's what I wore to spend the morning with some mums and bubs:
splendid stripe tank black jersey maxi skirt Converse Chucks
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
TankSplendid double French stripe tank in 'Flamingo' pink
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs pretty nylon Eliz-A-Baby bag

I caught up with some other mummies from my mother's group to go for a little walk and get some socialisation for the babies and us. It was really nice enjoying the warm, sunny day and getting a bit of exercise too. The other mums were in fitness gear, but I don't own gym clothes! I figured a nice light tank and maxi skirt with some Chucks was a good casual outfit for getting out.

The only problem with wearing this was that I forgot to put on sunscreen. Being a new mum and sometimes a little sleep deprived, I do forget things from time to time. But I really suffered after this forgetful moment! My poor shoulders were uncovered and got extremely burnt. Need to throw some sunscreen in the baby bag for the next time I forget to put it on in the morning. Just glad my BB cream has some SPF in it so at least my face was protected, and that my legs were shielded by the maxi skirt.

Last worn: Wayfarers, striped tank, jersey maxi skirt, Converse, Marc by Marc Jacobs baby bag.

Here's what I wore to go shopping:
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Jacket: Just Jeans paisley print kimono jacket
NecklaceHouse of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
TopJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
SkirtTarget grey marle maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Went out shopping with my mum and sister the day after the great sunburn walk. I was having such a tough time finding something to wear. My own fault for forgetting sunscreen! I was running out of time finding something to wear as baby T and I were meeting my family at the stores. Started with the maxi skirt as I wanted to be comfortable, and ended up picking the tank top as it was the only thing that didn't "scratch" my shoulders. Even just a simple seam on a tee was too much for my red skin!

I still needed to cover up a little more to avoid any further sunburn, so I picked this kimono as it's so lightweight. I've worn it with a maxi skirt before when I was pregnant, in an almost identical outfit, but it's not a combination I'd usually go for as it's a voluminous top and skirt together. Ended up quite liking this outfit though, although it's not something I would have put together normally. What do you think? Too much with the skirt and kimono together, or not bad?

Last worn: kimono, purple tank, grey maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.

Layered Spring Outfits: Stripe Tee Dress, Heart Print Scarf, Jeans and Blazer

We had a cloudy and chilly few days which gave me the chance to add some layers (a scarf and a blazer) to my usual outfits.

Here's what I wore to go out with baby T:
Stella McCartney Heart Print Scarf, Stripe tee dress Converse outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
ScarfStella McCartney heart print scarf
DressAtmos&Here navy stripe tee dress
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

We had an unexpected cold and rainy spring day (although nothing like what Sydney has been experiencing!) so I decided to wear long sleeves and accessorise with a scarf. This scarf probably won't get much more wear this year as it's quite warm, and the weather is heating up again. It was good to be able to wear it one last time for Spring. I'm also hoping to get more wear out of this dress this year, but again it's a thicker winter fabric and I'm not sure I'll have many more opportunities to wear it now the seasons are changing.

Had to take baby T for a quick checkup at the doctors, so I wanted something easy and cosy as I'd be baby wearing. I still haven't figured out an easy way to carry the baby bag as I wear the baby carrier, I just have to hold it in my hand and it's not the lightest of bags....but for a short trip out I prefer to baby wear rather than take the stroller.

Here's what I wore to visit family and go to the shelter:
Pinstripe blazer casual outfit ombre tank skinnies Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran Bag
Jacket: thrifted Valleygirl pinstripe blazer
TankJeanswest 'Macy' ombre tank in 'very berry'
JeansJeanswest Super Skinny Jeans in Mid Indigo
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

It was a little chilly in the morning so I added the blazer. We left baby T with family while we went out to the animal shelter, so I had the chance to carry a handbag too as I was without the baby bag. I'm so pleased I got to wear this ombre top! I got it for Christmas last year and only had the chance to wear it once before the baby bump got too big for it. The beaded detail is so pretty.

You might have seen my post on instagram about a cute little Guinea Pig that Cooper found (and I rescued from his fluffy jaws!). After asking around the neighbours and putting up signs and leaving letters in mailboxes, no-one stepped up to claim him. We named him Popcorn, but have no idea where he came from.

We adopted Cooper from the Animal Welfare League and I knew that they also re-home Guinea Pigs, so we took Popcorn down to the shelter to find a new home after keeping him a few days. I was a little sad leaving him there, but Cooper didn't appreciate the sudden new addition to the family and I was quite worried he might eat him! They re-homed 89 guinea pigs last year so they will find Popcorn a new home in no time. Cooper is still a little upset by it all and keeps pacing the spot in the laundry where we kept Popcorn. As we stumbled across him in the street, we didn't get a chance to prepare him for the new arrival like we did with baby T.

If you know anyone in the Gold Coast or Brisbane area who might be looking to adopt a little furry family member, check out Popcorn's adoption details at the AWL! :)
