Corporate Style: Printed Scarf, Fit and Flare Dresses, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran Bag

Before the outfits, since it's nearly the end of September I wanted to share my usual monthly purchases with you. Although I don't have any! I ended up doing Beth's #noSpenderSeptember without really thinking about it.

There's a mix of reasons why I haven't bought anything this month:

The lack of incredible sales is probably the biggest driver for me not buying anything this month to be honest, ha! If you're really missing a purchase update from me, you can always browse my old monthly purchase recaps on youtube.

Now, what I've been wearing. Sticking again with another simple outfit formula for the office, fit and flare dresses. I even ended up wearing the same scarf with each dress! I've worn these two dresses one after the other before too.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Spring Office wear LBD fit and flare jacquard blazer printed scarf flats

AwayFromBlue | Marc by Marc Jacobs carob brown classic Q Fran bag
Jacket: Jeanswest Cassandra jacquard jacket
ScarfJeanswest Lux paisley print scarf (C/O)
DressJeanswest tucked ponte black dress
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

Feels like it's been a while since I last wore this jacket to work! I've been wearing my trench coats to the office often as it's been colder even though it's spring and they are the warmest coats I have for commuting. As it was really quite warm on this day, I took the chance to wear something else over my outfit for a change!

I liked the simplicity of this outfit, even if I don't like the picture as the scarf is sitting a little oddly.

Last worn: jacquard jacket, blue printed scarf, black ponte knit dress, black ballet flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag.

Other ways to wearjacquard jacket and jeans, paisley scarf and a striped cardigan, LBD with gold accessories, black ballet flats a maxi skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag with burgundy pants.

Why I wore it:

The trench coat is back out! After a nice sunny and warm spring day (above) a storm rolled in and brought a lot of rain and cooled it back down again.

I had been planning to try recreate an outfit I'd seen on Shea. She posted a really cute outfit with a similar dress, blue tasselled printed scarf, ankle boots and a pink cardigan. I was planning to wear my pink blazer instead, as I don't have a pink cardigan, but with it being so cold I ended up grabbing my purple cardigan and a trench. Although it didn't work out like I'd planned, I really liked this outfit. The ankle boots came in handy with the rain too, kept my feet nice and dry!

Spring Dresses, Ankle Boots, Rebecca Minkoff Mini Affair Bag

With the weather warming in Brisbane and some proper spring temperatures arriving, I took the chance to wear my favourite spring outfit combination - ankle boots and a dress. I added an extra layer to both outfits as it's not quite as warm as I'd like it to be yet.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Spring Jeanswest Rachel Lyocell chambray dress ankle boots red bag

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff quilted red mini affair bag doubled strap
Top: Valleygirl blue 3/4 sleeve tee
DressJeanswest Rachel Lyocell chambray dress (C/O)
ShoesAsos airtime leather Chelsea boots in tan
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff mini quilted affair bag in fire engine red (on sale in burgundy and on sale in grey)

Why I wore it:

Yep, that chambray dress again! I did warn on instagram it was going to be the dress I wear over and over for spring/summer this year, haha! It's pretty much being worn as soon as it's washed and ironed.

Decided to layer the blue tee under the dress for a little bit of extra warmth, as I wore a cardigan with it last time. I thought the red bag was a nice colourful option with the blue.

Wore this on a busy day! Went grocery shopping, viewed some more houses, and had to rush Cooper to the emergency vets in the afternoon as he cut his paw. Poor pup had to wear a bandage and the cone of shame.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, blue tee, chambray dress, Asos Chelsea ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff mini affair bag.

Other ways to wear: blue tee and a pencil skirt, chambray dress and a cardigan, Chelsea ankle boots and printed jeans, Rebecca Minkoff mini affair bag and a maxi skirt.

DressAtmos&Here navy stripe tee dress

Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff mini quilted affair bag in fire engine red (on sale in burgundy and on sale in grey)

Why I wore it:

This was pre-groom, with Cooper still wearing his fluffy winter coat as he sits in the background of my shots. I'm so behind with blogging what I wear that I often just pick a few photos that make sense to post together, even if I do post things a little out of order.

In contrast to the outfit above, this was worn on a much quieter day. Spent the day with toddler T, running some errands in the morning. I had to do a little bit of driving around so I wore my knee bandage for some extra support.

This dress hasn't been worn in a while! I didn't wear it as much this winter as I did when I first got it. It's great for winter layering as it's quite a thick fabric, and it has a dropped hem in the back so it's got extra coverage when running around after a toddler. Hopefully I'll get a few more wears out of it before Brisbane gets too warm. I actually ended up taking the scarf off for some of the day, as the dress kept me nice and cosy.

Flared Jeans, Striped Tops, Converse and Balenciaga Day Bag

Again with the easy, often repeated outfit formulas. I decided to wear my flared jeans with some of my striped tops. Unlike my previous post, where I wore striped shirts to the office, these outfits are a lot more casual.

I got these flared jeans hemmed so I can wear them with flat shoes, and ever since they've been worn a lot more. While I am petite I don't think the combination of flares and flats makes me look any shorter, and it is definitely comfortable! Especially when worn with my Converse, like below.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Flares Converse striped henley pattern mixing tartan scarf

AwayFromBlue | Balenciaga automne classic RH Day hobo bag
Scarf: blue tartan scarf
ShirtJeanswest 'Melanie' Stripe henley in black/coconut
JeansJeanswest 'spoylt' flared jeans (similar at Shopbop)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagBalenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag

Why I wore it:

It was a little chilly in the morning and we were heading out to the beach for lunch and a walk, so I added the scarf for a little extra warmth, and some colour. I like the print mixing too, it grew on me through the day.

Last time I wore this top I was going to work, and worried it was too casual. It was perfect for a morning by the sea though, nice and comfy.

Last worn: tartan scarf, striped henley, flared jeans, Converse, Balenciaga Day bag.

If you prefer skinny jeans, they have that covered too - they have skinny jeans in multiple colours! And even boyfriend jeans.
If you are lucky enough to be experiencing consistently warm spring weather (Brisbane is a bit all over the place temperature wise at the moment!) then you might prefer to check out the denim shorts. Maybe I should get some shorts in anticipation for the spring weather that's sure to come soon....

Why I wore it:

I liked the striped tee and flares combination above, so I wore it again the next day. Gave me an excuse to wear this tee again, it hasn't really been worn very much since I bought it (only 4 times in the past year and a half).

I've been noticing how many tops I have and how rarely I wear them, I tend to stick to the same few favourites frequently. Trying to break the habit and pick things I've not worn recently, or not worn for a very long time. No point in having all these clothes if I rarely wear them!
Plus, as we are currently house hunting, the less clothes I have, the less packing I have to do when we finally find the perfect place....I'm trying to make sure everything I have in my wardrobe is a keeper.
