Striped Maxi Skirts and Silver Mini MAC Bag

While I do wear my maxi skirts year round and find them easy to layer up for winter, they are definitely worn more often in the warmer months. A striped maxi skirt and colourful top is an easy spring outfit.

Why I wore it:

I liked doing the #TRMStyle instagram style challenge in September so jumped on board with the October one too! The challenge for the day was 'green' so I thought this khaki tank was perfect. I did think about wearing another, more true green top, but I find this one easier to breastfeed in. (I have something on under it so I can lift it up to feed without flashing my belly). The decorative tassels are ideal for keeping baby boy amused too so he can tug on them instead of my hair and I don't need to wear a teething necklace!

The plan was to spend the day at a mother's group meeting however toddler T's cough was getting bad and baby boy was starting to cough too so I figured sitting in a room with other mums and bubs wasn't the best idea. Instead we tried to quickly pop out for some more nappies. Took a little longer than expected so it's probably a good thing we weren't heading to the meeting as well and had more time.

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'nailed it'. I was looking forward to finding time to paint my nails and use the challenge as an excuse to do so, but quickly changed my expectations for the day that morning. Toddler T was fully recovered, but I was losing my voice and baby boy was also sick...and teething. Getting the boys and I fed, dressed and out the door was 'nailing it' for the circumstances! Although too sick for playgroup and getting up close with other mums and bubs again, we went out to let toddler T run around a little and burn off some of his extra energy.

I picked this top to wear as it's been a while since I last wore it! Last time I was wearing it to take advantage of the blouson style to hide an early baby bump in the office. I really wasn't happy wearing it this time, I felt it sat oddly over my chest. Given that it had taken me so long to get around to wearing it and I was unhappy when I wore it, I'd usually say it should leave my wardrobe. However I do like wearing when I am not squeezing my breastfeeding chest into it, so I'm going to hold onto it a little longer and see how I feel next time it's worn.

Colourful Cardigans, Button Down Tanks and Skinny Jeans for Spring

I love the tops I'm wearing below. They have a couple of different names...button down tank top, button up tank top, collared tank, sleeveless shirt, and probably a few more. But they are perfect for breastfeeding, for a slightly dressier SAHM style and they are wonderful in the office. I really enjoy wearing these tops. Spring is here in Brisbane but a colourful cardigan is a great addition in the cooler mornings and evenings. And my grey Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini bag goes with everything.

Why I wore it:

This was what I wore at the end of September for the last monthly style challenge of 'finish with a bang'. I wasn't sure what I could wear that would meet that prompt, I figured red was a statement colour and my tank has sequins sewn into the florals so it seems sparkly enough! Although the red cardigan and the burgundy florals don't match I thought they looked nice together. The grey mini MAB was perfect against the colourful top and cardi.

This was a nice easy outfit to spend the day down the coast with my mum and the boys. We had a really good, relaxing day. It was a horrible evening though! To avoid traffic the GPS took me the longest possible route and I was briefly lost in the middle of nowhere with a very cranky baby and a toddler who was unimpressed dinner was late by the time we eventually got home, ha! At least it was only a couple more hours of craziness before everyone was fed, bathed, and tucked up in bed.

Why I wore it:

This was a style-challenge free day so it gave me the opportunity to wear this striped shirt I've been looking at in my wardrobe for far too long. I've mentioned before that it's taken me a little longer to get back into all my pre-baby tops after this pregnancy than it did with my last. Tops that are fitted around the chest are a little tricky, but I'm glad I was able to wear (and button up!) this shirt finally.

Purple and blue are a lovely colour combination so this purple cardi was the perfect topper. Ran a few errands in the morning and spent some time with my mum in the afternoon.

Spring Boho: Empire Waist Maxi Dresses and Kimonos

While I do wear my maxi dresses year round (even in winter) they definitely get more wear in the warmer weather. They are such a quick and easy option for a warm day. As it was a little cooler in the mornings when I wore these dresses, I added a kimono on top.

Why I wore it:

Isn't this dress beautiful?! It's a hand-me down from my bestie and I'm completely in love. After getting it hemmed I was planning to wear it to a party a few months back. I ended up not going so it sat in my wardrobe waiting for the perfect occasion to debut it.

The style challenge for the day was 'just because' so it gave me the perfect excuse to get this out for a wear. Glad I did too, it's too pretty to be left unworn in my wardrobe! Even though I had a quiet and uneventful day with just a quick trip out, I really enjoyed wearing this.

I did wonder if the gold Havaianas and the silver bag were a bit of a strange combination, but the dress covered most of my feet so I wasn't too worried after putting it on.

Why I wore it:

I didn't know what to wear to meet the style challenge on this day, so gave it a miss and wore a maxi dress and kimono again as I'd liked it so much in the outfit above. Wore this to take baby boy for his weekly weigh.

Honestly, I was probably a little overdressed for a weigh in and chat with the child health nurse, but I was a little worried and stressed around the appointment so wearing a pretty dress and my favourite colour (blue) was more to help me feel better! Baby boy stopped gaining weight, so we are trying a few things including introducing some formula to try help him get back on track. We check in every week to see how things are progressing.

Just like the outfit above, I really liked wearing this. Although neither dress is a nursing piece they are both easy to feed in and so comfortable to wear.
