About Me

Who I Am

Hi! Welcome to my personal style blog!

I'm Mica, a 20-something petite Aussie. I'm a part time office worker and mum. I live in Queensland with my hubby, two boys under 3 and a fluffy rescue Shih Tzu (adopted from the Animal Welfare League).

On this blog I share my personal style - what I wear each day. The good, the bad, and the toddler and dog photobombs that are part of my everyday life. I share my stay at home mum outfits and my corporate style. I started this blog in 2011 to document my outfits as I tried to move away from the blue jeans and a tee style rut I was in. I have a lot of jeans!

Why I Blog

When you read this blog, you'll see every post has links to when I've last worn something and different ways to style things. Every post has a helpful style tip to help you move away from the blue jeans style rut many people fall into. Hopefully you will be inspired to rewear things and create new outfits from your own wardrobe. You don't have to buy new clothes all the time, you can come up with new outfits using pieces you already own.

Like many women, I have an overflowing wardrobe full of clothes I've accumulated over the years through sale shopping. Despite multiple wardrobe clear-outs (and even a professional wardrobe detox session), my wardrobe isn't as lean as it could be. I'm trying to wear everything in my wardrobe, remixing and coming up with different ways to wear things. Along the way I'm figuring out the pieces that no longer work for me so that I can remove them from my wardrobe.

You'll find sales and discount codes as although I love shopping, I'm always hunting for a bargain and try to avoid paying full price.

When I buy anything I think of two different ways to wear it, and try to wear it at least twice in a month after buying it. It makes me consider a little more before purchasing to ensure that the items coming into my wardrobe are pieces that work for me right now. I don't want to have anything sitting unworn in my wardrobe for too long. Each month I share what I spent my money on and how it's working and being worn. In 2017 I decided to really focus on getting more wear from what I already own and started a #6MonthsWithoutShopping challenge, as well as documenting each month a piece from my wardrobe I've hit 30 wears of.

More About Me

Handbags are my weakness. You can see my collection on youtube! I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes, but I save hard so I can splurge on bags and accessories. They last a lifetime, always fit (even during pregnancy!), and can help change the look of clothes you wear multiple times. Definitely worth saving up for.

You can see all the places I have been featured around the internet here. If you want to find out more about me you can check out my FAQ page, follow me on Instagram, Bloglovin, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, or send me an email.

I would love to say hello and get to know more about you, after you kindly read all about me! :)

  1. Hi Mica (and Cooper, you cutie),

I think your outfits are great! I was sneakily clicking through your blog at work.

When I'm not doing my 'real job' I'm actually volunteering for a start-up company called HeyLets which is in the process of creating a crowd-sourced 'out and about' smartphone app. I was wondering if you'd mind terribly if we asked you for a few tweet length recommendations for places you shop or even cafes or places you enjoy going?

We'll, of course, source you as the content provider and when the app goes live we'll be able to link back to your blog and help drive more traffic your way.

Please let me know if this is something you might be interested in helping us with. My email at the internship is jenny@heylets.com

looking forward to hearing from you,

    Jenny

  4. You sound adorable. I love bags too and have a ton of them, albeit very few of mine are designer ones. I wish they were.

Anyway, I am glad to have found you.

Have a Great Week! Ada. =)

  6. Just stumbled over your review of the Marc by Marc Jacoby Fran Bag, as I would love to buy one myself - and I need to say I love listening to your voice!

Greetings from cold and wintry Germany (I now am quite a bit jealous after seeing pics of you going to work in short sleeves ;-) ) and all the best for you and your growing family :-)

  10. I've watched some of your videos on youtube and I'm a subscriber. I stumbled across your blog while looking a pictures of the speedy 25 on google. I finally know what your name is about lol but that is a good idea. I'm always wearing blue jeans just because they're easy to throw on and you don't have to think much about it. Love your blog & videos!

  11. Thanks Stephanie! :) Denim is so easy and comfortable to wear, but not the only thing I own so I really do need to wear more of my wardrobe! :)

  12. HI Mica, I like your acne pistol boots. I heard they run big. Did you get your true size in these or did you go down a size? Thanks for any help.

    1. I got my true size in these and they are perfect :) I do wear socks with them all the time, but not super thick ones. If you can't find a stockist to try them on first, I'd suggest ordering online from Matches Fashion or Shopbop, somewhere with free returns :) Hope that helps! Mine have held up really well over the years :)

  13. Mica, your blog is phenomenal. I've spent a fair bit of time browsing it today! As a newbie blogger it's inspiring to have a look at what's already out there, and see what's working for you. Great work on the site. I've followed you (and subscribed!)

  14. Nice to meet you Mica! I'm also a fellow Aussie Blogger, though from cold Melbourne. Love your philosophy on clothes, I find some of the best items are pre-loved, and it's always fun to see how they incorporate into your wardrobe. I wish I had more than the single pair of jeans I own, so I'll be looking to see what you've got :P

    1. Nice to meet you too! :) Don't take my jeans example as a good thing, I have far too many pairs, haha! They are a wardrobe staple for me though.

  15. Hi Mica ,
I hope you don't mind because I don't want to disturb the ladies that post in your blog cause I am small frame guy in my 30's and I've been wearing ballet flats for long time, because I had an injury in the top of one of my feet and I can't tolerate close shoes anymore except in winter where I must wear boots to keep my feet warm(I got them half size bigger to avoid pain), and I am also trying to be away from denim , despite blue it's my fav color but I try to wear other colors that match with my flats , khakis, cropped pants, shorts, capris, in beige, grey, black, light brown, etc. Your dog reminds me my former dog and made me smile bringing good memories from him :) Have a nice day and thanks for sharing your cute outfit with us, you gave me some ideas to adapt to my male wardrobe !

    1. Thanks for your comment Ivan! I'm glad you are finding shoes that are comfortable and work for you! I wear a lot more flats than heels due to an injury too - before that happened I didn't have any flat shoes, and I struggled with figuring out what to wear with them at first.

I'm pleased I can give you some outfit ideas and inspiration - feel free to comment any time! :)
