Ways to Wear JORD Wood Watches and a Giveaway

If you've read my blog for a while you might remember last year when I was given my first JORD wood watch. It became a firm favourite to wear to the office as glancing at your watch in a long meeting is a lot politer than pulling out your phone to check the time!

AwayFromTheBlue JORD wood watch fieldcrest unisex worn 4 ways Bal and LV Bags

JORD kindly gifted me another beautiful watch. I was excited to start wearing a watch again, hoping it would help keep me on time for things. Really it's just become another way for me to see how late we are running! Typical of life with two under 3 I think. As well as a review, I wanted to show you some of the different ways I've worn the women's wood watches I'm lucky enough to own.

I picked the Cora watch as it's a little more dainty than the unisex Fieldcrest watch I have. I was also really intrigued by the purpleheart wood, which looks lovely with the mother of pearl face. As well as the little cut-out detail on the face to see the inner workings of the watch, the back of the face is clear so you can see all the cogs moving around inside which is fascinating - especially to a toddler!

Being a wood watch, it's splash-proof but not waterproof. It means I can wear it through all the constant hand washing that comes along with two boys still in nappies, although I do have to take it off when washing the dishes or showering. It handles stay at home mum duties perfectly. My Fieldcrest watch has held up to a year and a half of use and over 30 wears. It's also been tough enough to cope with being pulled off the bedside table and worn by the toddler more times than I can count, so I'm confident this Cora watch will last as well.

The ordering process was a little different this time around than last time. When you pick your wood watch, you can specify the size of your wrist and get it custom sized for you right out of the box. I used this feature, it's cheaper than getting the band changed at my local watch repair place and it fits perfectly. Being petite with tiny wrists and not always being able to find things to fit me properly, I appreciated this extra service.

The only downside I can find with this watch is that it's an automatic one, so it doesn't use a battery. This means if you get over excited and don't read the manual (guilty!) you won't wind the watch enough when you first set the time and you'll be confused the next day when it stops ticking. Once you read the manual and follow the instructions to properly setup the watch, you won't have any problems and the watch will keep the right time.

Just like my first experience with JORD watches, I was impressed with the speedy shipping time from the US to Australia and the absolutely beautiful presentation. I shared my delight at opening the box on my insta story. These wood watches make great gifts! They are so unique.

Mulberry Oak Bayswater, Wrap Dresses for the Office: 3rd Trimester Corporate Style

As mentioned in my previous post, I'd been talking about and thinking about my handbags, and how things will change with them when baby's born. When toddler T was a baby, it took me a while before I started carrying my bags again and not just throwing my things into the baby bag.

The Mulberry bayswater is one of the bags that I'm sure will be neglected for a while. It's perfect for the office, not so much a day with a toddler. In my final weeks at work before maternity leave it was good to get it out again.

What I wore:

AwayFromBlue | Third Trimester Office Wear Thrifted Pritned wrap dress Mulberry Bays

AwayFromTheBlue | Mulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather JORD fieldcrest wood watch
NecklaceTai gold alphabet necklace
Dress: thrifted Target printed wrap dress (with white Jeanswest singlet underneath)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagMulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather (previously owned bargain here)

Why I wore it:

Can't believe this is only the third wear of this dress! Considering I got it at the op-shop (thrift shop) for $1 it's still a pretty good cost-per-wear though. I had the usual second trimester panic that nothing fit and I had nothing to wear so I went op-shopping and found this for only a dollar. A size larger than my normal, I knew it would work in pregnancy. It's a great piece for the office, although I don't see myself wearing it much after pregnancy so I'll try squeeze in a few more wears before baby arrives.

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs two tone flats in blush and black
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)

Why I wore it:

Another day at the office, another printed wrap dress! Unlike the one above, I feel I'm wearing this dress a lot this pregnancy! It's almost a weekly thing....

It's nice though having a go-to outfit for work though. It makes picking out something to wear the next day much easier, no matter how tired I am at the end of the day.

Blue Outfits, JORD Watch Review

I still have a backlog of outfit posts, but wanted to jump ahead a little and share these recent outfits from last week, as I'm eager to share my JORD watch review! The watch was provided to me free of charge for reviewing. As always, all opinions and outfits are my own.

Here's what I wore to go out shopping with baby T:
Summer Style Chambray Shift Dress White Scarf Studded Sandals LV Speedy

Away From The Blue Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere JORD Fieldcrest black
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Scarf: white target crochet detail scarf
DressEzra chambray shift dress
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch C/O JORD Watches
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)

Thought this dress would be a nice 'backdrop' to show off my new watch! I've heard that old rule that you shouldn't wear blue and brown together, but sometimes, like here, I think it works quite well. I didn't need the scarf for warmth as I was only popping out to the shops in the morning with baby T, it's just a cute decorative piece I thought was pretty with the dress. It actually keeps falling off the scarf hanger I my wardrobe and I keep resolving every time I put it back up to actually wear it soon, it's been long overdue a wear.

Paul from JORD watches contacted me and asked me if I would like to try a piece from their collection to review. I'm currently still on maternity leave and a stay at home mum, so there isn't a lot of appointments I have to get to by a set time. A watch is still helpful for me to have though, I've actually been thinking about wearing a watch again. Much easier to glance at my wrist to check the time rather than trying to find wherever I last left my phone when looking after a crawling baby.

I had the choice of 3 different styles, the maple Elly, the Fieldcrest black and the black and maple Sully. I picked the Fieldcrest as I liked the darker colour, even though the band would be too long (they have measurements on their website to guide you when shopping). No matter what watch I would have picked it would have needed to be resized. I'm petite so I've just gotten used to wearing things looser on my wrists. As you can see in the photos, the band is really large on me! I do want to get the watch shortened a little though so I can wear it for everyday. I think having it fitted would look nicer. JORD mentions on their website that you can resize it yourself if you have the right tools too, but I can't find a screwdriver tiny enough so I'll need to take it to the experts. I love the large face though, I think it's so beautiful.

The watch stands up to life with baby well. It survived the day, even sliding up and down my arm. It's such a unique piece, people do comment on it too. Mostly saying 'is it really made of wood?!'. I've only had it about a week so I can't review how long it lasts, but it's been ticking well since I got it, and I haven't had any problems. It looks and feels really high quality. Each watch comes with a warranty, and I've found them to be really quick and helpful via email if any problems were to arise.

The packaging is really impressive, as is the fast shipping. It only took 2 weeks from the US to Australia! If you're in the market for a watch I'd recommend JORD watches, as the wood is an interesting twist to a staple item. It would make a nice gift too, it comes in an adorable presentation box. You could always slip a little 'IOU a cute watch' in your Valentine's Day card and pick out a watch together for your partner...

Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga coated stud wrap bracelet in icy blue
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Ah, this outfit! This is what I had planned to wear all day, the morning being spent with baby T in his stroller. It's easier to wear a skirt when baby is in his stroller and I'm not running around bending over after him. By the afternoon though, the skirt had been replaced with a pair of denim shorts. Partly because the skirt just feels too short for life with baby! I've mentioned that last time I wore it too.

This skirt will be leaving my wardrobe. As pretty as it is, it's just not practical for my life right now. I don't feel comfortable in it. It will be so much easier getting dressed each day if I am faced with options in my wardrobe that I love and work for me for any situation, rather than having a wardrobe full of 'maybe one day' items. Slowly cleaning out my wardrobe, one piece at a time!

Corporate Style: Pencil Skirts and a Bit of Blue

Sharing more of my office wear. The return to work has been tricky, but baby T and I are handling it well I think. From an outfit perspective, I've been enjoying wearing my pencil skirts and 'dressing up' in corporate wear for a change.

Here's what I wore to work:
stripe shirt blue lace pencil skirt nude heels LV neverfull bag Office Style Brisbane Business Casual

Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull Blue outfit JORD fieldcrest wood watch
NecklaceDogeared 3 Wishes stardust bead necklace layered with Chanel necklace
Shirt: Target mint stripe shirt
SkirtAsos blue textured lace pencil skirt
Shoes: Wittner 'Lumen' heel in patent leather
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

A lot has changed since I was away on maternity leave, and the team I'm working with day to day has changed quite a bit. I'm still doing the same role as I was before, just working with different people. There was a big department meeting where everyone from all our locations got together and the newbies and myself had the chance to introduce ourselves to over 100 people. I've mentioned it before on the blog, but public speaking is one of my great fears. I've done a few things to try and get over it (like recording youtube videos to get used to speaking to an 'audience', and taking part in a presentation skills group), but I don't think I'll never get rid of those nerves entirely.

As I was incredibly nervous, I dressed in my comfort colour - blue! This blue lace pencil skirt has to be one of my favourites, it always gets compliments on the blog and instagram too, the best sale buy. I've linked up some similar ones below. I thought the striped shirt worked nicely with it, you can't really see the stripes unless you're up-close, but stripes are always good for pattern mixing anyway. I felt as comfortable and confident as you can be when presenting I guess.

I went with heels for that extra confidence boost, and I picked these nude patent ones as I don't remember them being the most comfortable last time I wore them. I was expecting this to be their last wear, but I was really happy in them through the day so they are staying in my wardrobe. I need to ease myself back into wearing heels with my dodgy knee! They will never be as comfortable as flats of course!

Last worn: striped shirt, blue lace pencil skirt, nude patent heelsLouis Vuitton Neverfull.

Other ways to wear: shopping with a Neverfull, casual pencil skirt outfit, hiding a second trimester baby bump with a button down shirt.

Here's what I wore to work:
Femminine office outfit pencil skirt bright accessories polka dot ruffle blouse

balenciaga black part time bag on arm GSH g21 hardware silver
Necklace: Diva red stone necklace
Top: Jeanswest 'Ricky' ruffle front top in midnight
SkirtJeanswest zip detail ponte pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs suede flats in red
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

I put this outfit together around the red flats. I was inspired by something Audrey posted about how to wear bright shoes, and realised I don't really wear these red flats a lot, considering how comfortable they are. I've worn the top and the shoes together before, (even with the same skirt!!) but not with a red necklace. One of Audrey's ideas was to wear a necklace and shoes that compliment or contrast a colourful top. Although I don't like the way the necklace looks with the neckline on the top, I was happy with the outfit overall. And very comfortable not wearing heels all day, hehe!

Back to the usual what I've been wearing. It was actually a little exciting to open up the big bag of maternity clothes I'd set aside post-baby, and rediscover pieces I'd loved in my last pregnancy. I was extremely happy to see these Asos maternity pencil skirts again, they were real workhorses before.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Second trimester workwear Asos maternity pencil skirt ruffle cami

AwayFromBlue | Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH
Scarf: Louis Vuitton "comete" bandeau scarf
Necklace: Lovisa silver love knitted heart pendant necklace
CamiJeanswest 'Maria' cami in cream
SkirtAsos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual plus House of Harlow Aztec bangles in fuschia pink and silver, white and silver, Hermes pink clic clac
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Just like last time I wore this scarf as a headband to the office, I got a bunch of compliments, which is always nice! I had a scan to check baby's progress in the early morning, and then it was Melbourne cup day so we had a bunch of events in the afternoon in the office. As I had just recently finished up the Frocktober fundraising challenge, I didn't really want to wear my usual dress option for Melbourne cup.

I figured the ruffles on this cami made it a little more dressy than a standard pencil skirt outfit, and the scarf in my hair was a nod to the headpieces worn to our themed event that afternoon.

Last worn: Louis Vuitton bandeau, ruffle cami, tartan pencil skirt, black ballet flats, Balenciaga part time bag.

Other ways to wearLouis Vuitton bandeau as a belt with a LBDruffle cami and a maix skirt, tartan pencil skirt in the third trimester, black ballet flats and skinny jeans, Balenciaga part time bag and a striped dress.

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Back when I was still hiding the baby bump on the blog and in the office, I'd gone through my wardrobe pulling out a few possible outfit ideas. This pretty teal top was one of them, so it had been hanging at the front of the wardrobe waiting for me to wear it. I didn't get around to wearing it before starting Frocktober, so it had been sitting there unworn.

Was wondering what to wear with this pencil skirt when I saw this top and figured I'd better wear it again before the spring weather heats up too much. It was a slightly cooler day when I wore this so it worked out perfectly. I wasn't too happy with the length of this top worn like this - I usually always partially tuck it in - but I liked the combination of the teal with the black and white.

JORD Watch Giveaway! Plus Stay at Home Mum Outfits and Blogging

As well as a very special JORD watches giveaway, I'm sharing two very laid back, easy stay at home mum outfits that don't require a lot of effort. Also talking about some of my thoughts on blogging the lazy outfits and why I keep this blog going.

Here's what I wore for a lazy Sunday:
casual summer SAHM style outfit grey tee denim shorts statement necklace

Balenciaga tempete blue day bag giant silver hardware JORD wood watch
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: beaded statement necklace from local markets
TeeJeanswest rolled sleeve grey marle tee
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch C/O JORD Watches
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

I nearly didn't take a photo in this outfit. It's one of those extremely casual 'should I really blog this' type outfits. I share what I wear on the blog, but since I've gone down to 6 outfits a week I can have a day off from photos now and then. It comes in handy when I love my outfit but baby refuses to nap, or decides to alter my outfit in some way...but it also means I'm starting to question if I should blog everything I wear (which was my goal starting this blog). I wasn't going to share this at first. Later in the afternoon, when I thought about going out I realised all I needed to do to add some interest to this plain and comfy outfit was a fun statement necklace.

I've been reading a lot of bloggers questioning what they are doing lately, and it's certainly got me thinking. It might just be a little thing, just adding a necklace, but it's proof to me that I should keep going with this blog. It makes me put a little more thought and effort into what I wear. I'm always going to have a laid-back, casual every style and no extremely ground-breaking or exciting outfits, but it's nice to document those every day outfits. After all, we all get dressed every day, make the most of what's in our wardrobe, and go about our lives. While editorial shoots and never wearing something more than once is feasible and possible for others, it's not my style. I get inspiration from the simple everyday outfits I see (and read about) people wearing, and that's why I blog my day to day outfits too.

I know that being a stay at home mum has been a big change to what I wear, but before you know it I'll be back at work and back to sharing my business casual office outfits as well as those more relaxed weekend running-around-with-baby outfits. Thank you to those who are hanging around through the change. I've got a great giveaway below as a thank you!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarerswood watch, grey tee, denim shorts, Havaianas, Balenciaga Tempete Day.

Here's what I wore to go out shopping:
Casual comfy modest maxi skirt summer outfit bright tank stripes hobo bag
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
TankJeanswest 'Jenni' basic singlet in Hawaii blue
SkirtTarget black and white striped maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch C/O JORD Watches
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

This outfit is another super casual outfit, and so comfortable. I'm actually not too impressed with the photo, but loved the outfit. I actually wore this a while back when I was picking up some family from the airport, I just didn't get a chance to take pics and blog it. I enjoyed having an 'excuse' to to re-wear it!

Wore this out to spend the morning at the shops with baby T. I had planned to get my watch resized, as I mentioned in the review when I got it I was anticipating that I'd have to get the band shortened. Of course every time I walked past the watch place it was busy, and I didn't have time to hang around with baby T. Will need to go back another another day.

Printed Wrap Dresses and Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Speedy Bandouliere Bag for the Office

My third trimester work outfits are starting to get very repetitive! Although I do have maternity pencil skirts and tops, I've been falling back on the easy office wear option of a wrap dress frequently. I wore my damier ebene speedy bag with both outfits as I don't feel the checkered print competes too much with the prints on the dresses.

What I wore:

AwayFromBlue | Third Trimester Office wear Soon Maternity printed wrap dress LV speedy

AwayFromTheBlue | AwayFromTheBlue | Printed dress, Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy B JORD Wood watch
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
Dress: Soon Maternity 'Madeline' grey print wrap dress
Singlet (under dress): Target grey marle tank top
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs metallic mouse flats
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

This dress has definitely been my most worn office wear this pregnancy! I'm so glad I bought it during my last pregnancy. I think wearing something once a week is perfectly acceptable in pregnancy, especially in the last trimester.

I've fallen into a third trimester pregnancy capsule wardrobe as the baby bump outgrows most things I own, so I'll need to do a post about that. This dress is one of the key pieces.

Last worn: Soon Maternity wrap dress, grey singlet, gold mouse flats, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag.

Other ways to wearwrap dress and Chloe Paddington, grey singlet and denim shorts, gold mouse flats and a pencil skirt, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere bag and denim shorts.

Printed wrap dresses under $100:

Tank (under dress): turquoise Cotton On singlet
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

As I mentioned last time I wore this dress, being a non-maternity piece I'm trying to get as much wear from it as possible before the baby bump outgrows it. I was pleased I could squeeze in another wear.

When I was planning in the evening what to wear the next day, I was thinking of a different singlet to wear under this dress and thought that my turquoise one would look nice and match the print. I noticed in the morning that it didn't really match like I thought it would, it's more green than blue. Wore it anyway as I was running late and couldn't be bothered grabbing another top! It did bug me a little through the day though.
